  2. Add the turkey and water to a food processor and puree until smooth. Scraping down the sides of the bowl, as needed.
  3. Add the pumpkin and egg to the turkey puree and puree until mostly smooth with no streaks visible.
  4. Transfer to a large bowl and stir in the chopped cranberries. Mix in the flour, just until the dough thickens and it forms a soft, bread-like dough.
  5. Dust your counter with flour, then roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick, dusting with flour as you work to prevent sticking.
  6. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes, then reroll the scraps and repeat until you have used all the dough.
  7. Place the cutouts on the prepared sheet pan and bake 20 – 25 minutes, until deep golden brown and firm.

  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and then set a small baking pan or a few tart pans aside. Mix the oat flour and one large egg, and knead a few times to form a dough.
  2. Separate the dough into two even pieces and press down firmly into the bottom of each baking pan to form a crust, then bake for 8 minutes.
  3. While the crust bakes, whisk together the pumpkin puree, honey, one large egg, and ground cinnamon in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Pour the pumpkin filling mixture into the pre-baked crusts and spread evenly between the tarts, if using multiple pans.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes, remove the tarts from the oven, and allow them to cool before serving to your dog.

  • 1 medium sweet potato
  • 1 medium carrot
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup rice flour

Instructions

  1. Warm up your oven to about 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper so the biscuits can be removed easily.
  2. Brown the ground turkey in a skillet over medium-high heat. Set aside to cool slightly, then mix with the sweet potato mixture.
  3. Cook the sweet potato and carrot until tender. Mash until smooth, then mix with the turkey in a large bowl.
  4. Add the cranberries, oats, and rice flour. Stir until combined and stop when the dough holds together.

  • ½ lb. ground turkey or leftover cooked turkey
  • ¼ cup chopped sweet potatoes
  • ¼ cup chopped green beans
  • ¼ cup pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup oat flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray muffin tin with olive oil spray or wipe with a thin coating of coconut oil.
  2. Dice up the sweet potatoes and green beans into very small pieces. You want them to be about the size of the oat flour, so they will incorporate easily into the batter.
  3. Add all of the vegetables, pumpkin, turkey, oat flour, and egg to a large bowl. Stir until completely mixed.
  4. Add additional oat flour if the mixture is too wet to form a solid patty when stirred. Fill the muffin tin with the mixture. Fill each compartment to about ¾ full.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until tops are golden brown and firm in the center. Cool completely before removing from the tin and serving to your dog.

  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin purée

Instructions

  1. Heat your electric cooker to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Grind the oats in a food processor for 1 – 2 minutes until they are a fine flour with some pieces remaining a bit larger.
  3. Mix in the pumpkin purée and eggs, blending until the dough is smooth and sticks together easily.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured counter and knead lightly, adding a little more flour if necessary, until no longer sticky.
  5. Roll the dough between parchment sheets or on the floured counter with a rolling pin until it is about 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Cut with a cookie cutter (run the cutter through some flour if it gets sticky) and place on a prepared baking sheet.
  7. Re-roll the scraps and cut more until no dough remains, then bake for 16 – 18 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through.

  • ½ cup canned pumpkin
  • ½ medium sweet potato
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 cup flour

  1. Turn on your oven and set the temperature to 350°F. Peel the sweet potato and place it in a saucepan, cover with water, and boil until fork-tender.

  3. Add the flour, a little at a time, whisking after each addition until the batter is smooth and uniform.
  4. Fold in the broken dog treat pieces so that they are distributed evenly throughout the batter.

  • 1 ¼ cups coconut flour
  • 2 cans pumpkin purée
  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Canola cooking spray
  • 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a muffin tin with a light spray of olive oil cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, peanut butter, ½ cup pumpkin purée, and the eggs. If necessary, add a spoonful of water to make the dough smooth.
  3. Allow the dough to sit for 5 – 10 minutes, then divide it into 12 equal-sized balls, each about 1 ½ inches in diameter.
  4. Flatten each dough ball into a disk about 3 ½ inches in diameter, then press into the muffin cups to form the crust.

  • 1 ½ cups oat flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup olive oil

Filling

  • 1 can of pumpkin puree
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk of choice
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • ¼ cup oat flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Have your electric cooker ready at 375°F. Adjust the rack to the center of the oven so the pie will bake evenly.
  2. To make the crust, whisk the oat flour and salt together in a large bowl. In another large bowl, whisk the egg and olive oil.
  3. Add the egg mixture to the oat flour and mix well with a spoon until the dough comes together in a ball. Press the crust into a pie plate and up the sides.
  4. To make the filling, whisk the pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, and maple syrup together in a large bowl. Add the oat flour and salt, and whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour the filling into the crust, and spread it evenly over the crust. Bake 42–45 minutes until the filling is set in the center and a knife inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • ½ cup chopped cranberries
  • 1 cup green beans
  • 1 cup bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Heat up the electric oven to about 325°F, then place a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix the turkey, cranberries, green beans, and half of the bread crumbs. Add the remaining bread crumbs, and mix just until everything holds together and can easily be shaped.

  • ½ cup cooked turkey
  • ½ cup mashed sweet potato
  • ¼ cup finely chopped cranberries
  • ¼ cup shredded carrots
  • 1 ½ cups oat flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

Instructions

  1. Bring your oven to about 400°F. Poke holes in a sweet potato with a fork and bake it on a cookie sheet for approximately 45 minutes.
  2. Cook turkey in a pan over medium-high heat until it’s cooked through. Set the pot aside to cool slightly.

  7. Warm up your oven to about 350°F. Bake for 25 minutes, or until they become golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Cool the treats before serving and store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for longer periods.



12. Homemade Chicken Nuggets for Dogs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chicken
  • 1 cup ground vegetables
  • ½ cup pumpkin or butternut squash
  • ½ cup cooked barley
  • ½ cup grated cheese
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Small pinch sea salt

Instructions

  1. Warm up your cooker to about 350°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and brush it with a small amount of olive oil.
  2. Add the steamed or roasted pumpkin and squash to a food processor and pulse until the pumpkin and squash are broken down, but not totally pureed.

  • 1 lb. ground turkey breast
  • 1 cup frozen green beans
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup diced cranberries
  • 1 shredded carrot
  • 1 ½ tsp powdered eggshell

Instructions

  1. Mix all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Stir until the turkey, green beans or peas, pumpkin, cranberries, carrot, and powdered eggshell are well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into bite-sized patties or meatballs. Feel free to vary the sizes according to your dog’s preferences.
  3. Place on dehydrator trays and dehydrate at 160 – 165°F for about 10 – 14 hours, depending on the size of each piece.
  4. Check for doneness by making sure the treats are fully dry and will easily crack apart, then cool completely.

  • ¾ cup water

  • 2 ½ cups whole coconut flour
  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 apple, cored and grated
  • ½ cup carrots
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • ¼ – ½ cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Core the apple without peeling and grate it. Peel the carrots and grate them as well. If you have a food processor, you can use it to grate the carrots and apple quickly.
  3. Mix the flour, oats, and brown sugar in one bowl. Mix the egg, oil, water, apple, and carrots in another bowl.
  4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing well. It will form a dough. Only add more water if the dough seems too dry to form into a ball.

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 large apple
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 ½ cups coconut flour
  • ¼ tsp Ceylon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 400°F. Wash the sweet potatoes, then slice each in half. Place cut side down on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
  2. Roast the sweet potatoes in a preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes. Allow it to cool and peel the skin off. You can then mash with a fork until it gets smooth.
  3. Lower oven heat to 375°F. Peel the apple and shred it on the large holes of a box grater or in a food processor.
  4. Mix the sweet potato, apple, egg, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the flour slowly until a dough forms that is easy to work with.
